Walking with Linda: London Bridge to Blackfriars 7 mile walk , Crypts, Relics, Art & St Paul's Cathe
Overview
Join Linda on this 7 mile Walk from London Bridge to Blackfriars, Crypts, Relics, Art & St Paul's Cathedral.
The morning's walk is alongside both sides of the River Thames and via All Hallows by the Tower and St Bride's Church, crypt and museum with historic relics and art works.
We'll go to a pub near St Paul's Cathedral for lunch (at your own expense) where I have tables reserved for us.
After lunch, we will take a short walk via other historic places of interest including a visit to London's oldest surviving continuous place of worship, founded in 1123 as an Augustinian Priory.
We'll return to the pub for a drink and snack before our visit to St Paul's Cathedral at 1800. Our visit is part of the 'Cathedrals at Night' initiative to enjoy the atmosphere of St Paul's Cathedral at night.
We'll be able to explore the Cathedral's heritage and immerse ourselves in little known stories of the Cathedral's rich history with guided tours and trails. We can enjoy the Cathedral's art including works by Henry Moore and Bill Viola. Admission to the Cathedral including the Crypt is free but the Galleries will not be open.
The evening will end with the service of night prayer under the Dome and then we must depart at 2030.
We'll walk to nearby Blackfriars railway station to catch our trains home.
Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want.
Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring an umbrella if it is expected to rain!).
