Overview

This event in August sold out really quickly so don't delay of you want to join us for the September date.

Join us for an evening tour of the historic site at Dudley Zoo, through this fascinating Zoo History Walk & Talk.

Discover Dudley Zoo & Castle’s rich history through this unique guided tour, which will focus on the zoo’s early years, and the construction of their 12 listed Tecton buildings.

We will have an opportunity to see the zoo after hours, while learning about the rich diversity of species that have called Dudley Zoo home over the past nine decades.

The 12 listed Lubetkin-designed concrete structures at Dudley Zoo, built between 1936 and 1937, are the greatest collection of surviving Tecton buildings in the world and some of the most important modern movement buildings in the UK. Over the years, they’ve been home to a range of incredibly species including elephants, orangutans, chimpanzees, dolphins and killer whales!

Through this evening event, we’ll be exploring the form and function of these incredible buildings – while also sharing the Zoo’s plans for their future development and restoration.

Please note that this is not a Spice exclusive event.

Really interesting walk and talk from Jack at the Zoo. He gave us loads of information about the zoos past present and future. It was lovely to see some of the animals , although not all as it was bedtime for most of them! It was lovely to have an insight into how the zoo sees itself in the Community in Dudley and also how it works with worldwide organisations to save endangered species.
