Overview

Join us on this mainly flat walk (with a few ascents thrown in for luck) taking in the pastureland and woodland surrounding the parish of Siddington situated halfway between Alderley Edge and Congleton. Starting from the car park at Redesmere Lake we take a big loop around passing through woodland and pasture land to pass Capesthorne Halls picturesque lake and get views of the hall itself. We then cross back to take in the far shores of the lake by Redesmere sailing club then off in to the country again before looping back to our starting point.

Facilities: There are no facilities until very close to the end of the walk (they may be open if we are lucky) so maybe not so many big mugs of tea/coffee at breakfast today!

Getting There

Leave the M56 at J6 and head towards Wilmslow on the A538. Into the centre of Wilmslow and turn right at the T junction signposted Alderley Edge. At next roundabout carry straight on, signposted Congleton (A34). 0.6 miles later another roundabout marks the start of the Alderley Edge bypass. Take the 2nd exit on to the bypass signposted Congleton A34. At the roundabout after 3 miles go straight (2nd exit) signposted Congleton A34. After 0.6 miles you reach the crossroads with A537. Go straight over, still on the A34. A little short of 2 miles past the crossroads there is the Siddington Village Hall on your left. Turn left shortly after this into Redesmere Lane. We meet at the car park by the mere which is on the left after about a third of a mile. The postcode quoted is for the Redesmere Sailing Club which is the closest postcode to the car park. DOGS: Lauren welcomes well behaved dogs on her walks. They need to be kept on a lead if we are walking amongst livestock, whilst we are eating and at all times if there is someone on the walk who is nervous of dogs.
