Walk: Heath Common to Stanley Ferry
Overview
Meet Michael at 10:15am ready for a 10:30am start in the public car park just below the King's Arms pub on Heath Common.
From here we will walk through the village past a few of the five large historic Georgian mansion houses and wind our way through the woods whilst taking a short stop at a church with a famous cemetery. We'll follow the paths and emerge at the Stanley Ferry marina. The pub should be open for a toilet stop.
We’ll then walk along the canal past the houseboats and swans, back into the woods before returning to the village. There’s an 18th century hostelry at the end of the walk with indoor and outdoor seating for anyone who wants to sample its ales or enjoy a tea/coffee.
The walk is dog friendly on the whole, but there are sections where dogs will need to be kept on leads.
