Mid Week Walking with Linda: 5 or 10 mile, Willesden Junction Circular Walk with McVities Biscuit Fa

Join Linda on this 5 or 10 mile, Willesden Junction Circular Walk with McVities Biscuit Factory Shop Visit.

Please meet in the small booking hall by the ticket barriers at the 'OLD OAK LANE exit' of Willesden Junction Railway Station by 10:50, ready to depart promptly at 11:00. It is a big station so please allow time to follow the 'Exit' signs until you are given 'Exit' options when you need to choose the 'OLD OAK LANE exit'.  

We will walk out to the Grand Union Canal and to the McVities Biscuit Factory discount shop at Harlesden. Here, we'll have the opportunity to buy packets of discounted McVities products including unusual ones that don't appear in the mainstream supermarkets (a photo of my 50p per item June visit purchases features with this walk write-up!). Remember to bring a rucksack big enough for the purchases you wish to make!

Please bring a flask of tea/ coffee or a cold drink with you as once we've made our McVities biscuit purchases, we'll return the the canal and some handy bench seats for a morning drink and biscuits break when you can sample your recent purchases!

Then, we will take a brisk walk along the canal past Alperton and to Perivale where we'll leave the canal to walk to a pub for lunch.

En-route, we will pass the 1930's art deco Hoover Building.

We'll stop at a Greene King pub and carvery for lunch (at your own expense). They have traditional pub food or the roasts carvery (small meat portion £6.79, medium £9.29 or large £11.29) with as many potatoes and vegetables as you can get on the plate!

After lunch we'll make the five minute walk to Perivale tube station for anyone to go home from if they opt to only join us for a five mile walk and lunch.

We then join a section of the Grand Union Canal that we have not yet walked en-route back to our start point.

At about 16:30 we'll stop for an afternoon tea and biscuits break alongside the canal where there is also an opportunity to make purchases from a trade price Halal meat and spices outlet if you wish.

You might like to leave us as we pass Harlesden railway station if that is easier for you to get home from, otherwise, we'll complete the final 20 minute walk to Willesden Junction Station.

Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want. 

Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring a golfing umbrella if it is expected to rain!).

Please check your transport times, and for any engineering works, at least the day before the walk and allow some contingency time for delays.
