Christmas Shoebox for the Homeless Appeal
Overview
This year we are helping the charity One Big Family to help the homeless around Yorkshire by making up shoeboxes of essential items for them to distribute.
Last year their boxes, rucksacks and even filled carrier bags went to Huddersfield, Halifax, Dewsbury, Bradford and Leeds to rough sleepers and those living in hostels / temporary accommodation.
You can help us either by donating items (see What To Bring below) or by coming along on the night of 11 December to help us make up the boxes. Or both!
If you can't make it on the night but want to contribute, you can bring items along to Jonathan or Karen on several other events before 11 December.
On the night we will see what we have and make up individual boxes which will be distributed to the homeless.
When booking, please let us know what you intend to contribute so we know we are getting a selection of different items. You can buy multipacks of socks for example on amazon or ebay, or buy from local shops.
Includes
We'll provide the mince pies to keep us going on the night.
Location & Itinerary
We will be in the upstairs bar.
Parkside Tavern is in St John's House, the mock Tudor building on Merrion Street near its junction with New Briggate and alongside St John’s Gardens. (It was formerly Slate NQ, and before that Lounge Bar and Grill.)
If you are driving and have a lot to drop off, pull up just outside to unload before parking elsewhere.
The nearest outdoor parking is the Cross Belgrave St. car park.
Indoor car parking is in the St John’s Centre car park on Merrion St., or the Citipark Car Park on Merrion Way is a little further away but cheaper.
