Evening Walk: High Hazels Park and 70 Acre Hill
Overview
A ramble through a green oasis to the east of Sheffield between Darnall and Tinsley. Our route takes us from Darnall, through Tinsley Park Wood, up to the edge of the old runway of the former Sheffield City Airport. We loop round to the edge of Tinsley Park Cemetery, then make our way to 70 Acre Hill and stop to take in the views of the city. We return to our start point, which gives an option for an early finish to anyone that wants to drop out and then take in a second loop around High Hazels Park, an estate bought by Sheffield for public use in the 1890s.
Distance: around 3¼ miles; Height gain: around 100m

Car park on Infield Lane, Darnall
The car park is on Infield Lane, which can only be accessed by vehicle from Catley Road.
From the Sheffield Parkway A630 / A57, take the exit signed Ring Road A6102 and follow the directions to the A6102 in the direction of Meadowhall.
After passing Lidl on the left and the bp station on the right, turn right at the traffic lights signed Tinsley Park Golf Course and High Hazels Park onto Catley Road. Follow this road to the end and at the sign for the golf course, it bends right and becomes Infield Lane. Follow this to the entrance to the car park on the left. If the car park is closed, there should be plenty of space to park on the street.
By bus: Buses 9, 9a, 18 and 718 stop at the Greenland Road / Britannia Road stop near Lidl and it is about 500m from here to the meet point. There are some steps down from the main road opposite Lidl. Take these steps and then walk straight on past some new houses onto Infield Road where you will come to the car park on your right.
