Martin's Tour: Generators Regenerated – Thames Power Stations Explorer
Overview
After a wait of nearly 40 years the Battersea Power Station is opening again. This
time the public are invited, and are able to see the transformation of the interior, including the turbine halls and control rooms. Also opening will be Electric Boulevard – a new pedestrianised high street including shops, bars, restaurants, a hotel, and a park. So arguably the most significant phase of the transformation of the site into a first class retail and leisure destination is complete.
Before Battersea however, we will be visiting Imperial Wharf to see the results of the impressive regeneration of Imperial Wharf and the former London Underground power station at Lots Road.
On this tour you will gain a real appreciation of the repurposing of these iconic industrial structures for the 21st Century. We will be using London’s transport network to move between locations, so please bring your Oyster and contactless cards to cover fares. The expected duration is three hours in total.
