Tonight we will dine at a multi-award-winning independent Jamaican restaurant, Jamaya.
Whether you’re a connoisseur of the Jam Rock, or a jerk-chicken-novice; there’s something for everyone at Jamaya. Join us as we celebrate the authentic taste of home over proper jerk chicken and Jamaican fried chicken, Marley’s beats, and decor as vibrant as the colours on the Jamaican flag.
A little about Jamaya
After years of experiencing the Caribbean culture through family stories and delicious cooking, our founder, Byron set off to explore sunny Jamrock on his own… and you know how it is with Jamaica, the colours, music and outrageous carnival culture is somewhat contagious. So contagious that Byron brought it back with him, on his return to the UK.
So, with a love for Jamaica and his daughter (“Maya”) Jamaya was born. And here we are now, spreading the party spirit with every adventurous foodie we meet.
The thing with “our story” is that it is no way near complete. People make stories; and we at Jamaya have so many of you left to meet. As well as sharing jerk-tastic chicken and festivals that you’ll always want to sink your teeth into, we want to share (and make) memories, too. Just like Byron has with his girl, Maya.

Location & Itinerary
As many of you know, we usually look to work with a set price, choice menu. This makes it easier for us to collect the money in advance and then settle the bill with the venue.
We are finding more and more restaurants who we would love to include in our events programme who don’t have a set price menu, and the menu options are too varied for us to use a mid-price point, to charge everyone the same.
We tried a method where you pay a nominal fee to Spice and just pay for your food on the day but that makes it very complicated for the host.
Rather than excluding these restaurants we are trying a method whereby members pay a nominal amount to Spice to book, and pre-order their food in advance, but off the full menu. We will then update each booking with the actual price and (where necessary) a service charge.
You can see their current menu using this link but bear in mind that the menu could change before our visit. We will send a link to pre-order your menu choices nearer the date of the meal.
Jamaya is in Birmingham City Centre which is well served by public transport. If you are using your car, please be mindful of the Clean Air Zone in the city centre.
