Sunday Afternoon Walk around Temple Newsam Park and Woods
Overview
Come and join us for a steady walk around the grounds of Temple Newsam as landscaped by Capability Brown. We will start from the North Car Park and take a circular route stopping at the cafe at the end of the walk. We will walk for about 2 hours. Please note that the paths could be muddy so please wear appropriate footwear.

The paths are shared with cyclists and horse riders. There are no styles. It could be muddy in places.
Meet in the Temple Newsam Park - North Car Park ready to walk at 2pm.
If you enter from Colton Road, immediately after passing between the gate posts you should take the right fork then the car park is on your right.
If you come in on Temple Newsam Road, then continue along the road past the running track to the roundabout. Take the first exit and then immediately turn left onto the straight road. The car park is on your left at the end of the straight section.
There are several car parks. Please be sure to meet us at the right one. There is no parking charge at this one.
Leave the M1 at junction 46 and take the A6120 (Selby Road) towards Leeds. Be in the middle lane to take the second exit from the next roundabout passing Colton Retail Centre. Keep in the left lane then and take the second exit at the next roundabout signed Halton B6159 and Temple Newsam House. Turn left at the traffic lights (signed Temple Newsam House 1) onto Colton Road. Carry on over a mini roundabout towards the park. After passing between the gate posts, immediately take the right fork and the North car park is on your right.
First bus numbers 19 and 19A run to Whitkirk. Take the Whitkirk Church stop and walk ⅔ mile along Colton Road.
The meet point is located just over a mile from Cross Gates train station, an approximate 30 minute walk.
