Tanworth in Arden Long Walk
Overview
This is a 12½ mile round trip with a total of 150m of climbing spread throughout the day showing the old forest of Arden area at its best.
The walk is expected to take about 6 hours.
The cafe at the start does great breakfasts for those that arrive early.
Our route heads south through open countryside past hidden chapels to eventually arrive in Henley in Arden, where we will take a lunch break for people to sample the local cafes.
We then follow the Heart of England way over Beaudesert Motte and Bailey and onwards, past ancient forests to arrive in Lapworth. We then join a short section of the Stratford Upon Avon Canal and head into Hockley Heath for a drinks break at the Wharf Inn.
Our route then passes abandoned chapels and the obelisk that can be seen from the M40, before skirting Umberslade Hall and returning to our start point.
Walkers are welcome to stay for a pizza at Dough and Flow, next to Espresso Café.
Note: There are a few fields that are usually full of cows and we pass through a couple of farm yards, so dogs are not welcome on this walk.
