Walk: Druid's Temple near Masham
Overview
Join us for a five mile walk around the fields west of Masham on this gentle walk through the Yorkshire Dales.
Our route takes from the hamlet of Fearby, over the River Burn and then into Druid's Wood inside which is hidden the temple, complete with phallus and sacrificial altar. As the temple is merely a nineteenth century folly we will probably not be turned to stone etc. for any blasphemous behaviour.
Grade: 4; Distance: 5 miles
This walk is included for those on the Masham weekend break so there is no need to book this here if you are booked on the weekend.
Location & Itinerary

From the South you are advised to keep on the A1(M) to junction 50 then follow the A61 and A6108 to Masham.
From the North turn off the A1(M) at junction 51 and follow the signs to Bedale, then on to the B6285 to Masham.
Entering Masham on the A6108, cross over the river bridge, then along the avenue of trees, turn right up the hill, past the garage on the right, take the second turning on the left (signed Black Swan 2). 2¼ miles on the left is the Black Swan. Park here and we'll meet in front of the pub by the road.
For satnav, the postcode is HG4 4NF but take care as older satnavs will not know about the recent road layout changes to the A1 / A1(M).
