Walk - Rickmansworth Aquadrome To Cassiobury Park 8 1/2 Mile Circular Walk
Overview
Alan Szenkier is your walk leader. We will meet outside the Café in the Park at Rickmansworth Aquadrome for 10:15am, where there are toilets and a café, and walk to Cassiobury Park (voted one of the top 10 parks in the country) via the Ebury Way, Croxley Moor and the Grand Union Canal.
We should arrive at about noon and we will have a break of up to 30 minutes. There are toilets and a café (which might be busy). You may wish to bring a sandwich or snacks, particularly if you are not eating at the end of the walk.
We will then return to Rickmansworth via the River Chess. We should be back by 2.30.
If you're not rushing off you may wish to hang around for a late lunch either in Rickmansworth Town (Wetherspoons, Prezzo and Costa Coffee amongst other places) or bring lunch, or get something at Marks or Wenzels, and have it back at the delightful setting of the Aquadrome. If you've still got some energy left after lunch you may wish to go for a stroll round the Aquadrome.
The walk is mostly flat with a couple of modest hills. There are no stiles to climb over.
The Aquadrome is a 10 minute walk from Rickmansworth Station - check any line closures. Turn left out of the station down the hill and go clockwise round the roundabout. Take the path just to the left of the playground and go round the lake in an anti-clockwise direction. You will come to a junction of paths with a sign to the cafe.
The car park is free as at July 2019 but do check in the unlikely event that this changes.
Please wear suitable footwear (walking boots, walking shoes or trainers) and bring a hat, sun tan lotion and sufficient liquids.
Please call Alan on 07879 644973 on the day if you're late or not turning up.
