Overview

Bourton-on-the-Water is one of “the” must visit picture perfect villages of the Cotswolds and we have managed to secure the idyllic country house hotel of Harrington House. This beautiful property lies in its own peaceful grounds on a quiet lane within the bustling village or Bourton on the Water. From here we can explore the village once the tourists have gone home and see it at its very finest, browsing the shop windows, admiring the country cottages or just relaxing with a cool drink in one of the welcoming country pubs as the trickling streams meander past. This also an idyllic base from which to enjoy the Cotswolds and as usual our walking programme will allow you to explore the very finest aspects of the area, so prepare yourself for idyllic views and villages alongside magnificent architecture built from the warm honey Cotswolds stone.

Location & Itinerary

Is this for me?

To allow you to choose a walk that suits you best, we will provide a minimum of two walks on each day, led by professional and knowledgeable walking guides. On each day there will be a harder walk of 10-13 miles with up to 2000+ft of ascent and a moderate walk of 8-9 miles with less ascent.

Travel & Stay

Dating from the Tudor period and of considerable historic interest, Harrington House mirrors the mellow architectural style of the Cotswolds. Its peaceful atmosphere and proximity to the charming 4-star Visit Britain Guest Accommodation centre of Bourton-on-the-Water make it ideal for us. Harrington House is located in a quiet street, just 100 metres from the centre of Bourton. The house is set in its own grounds surrounded by a high wall which gives it a beautiful, peaceful serenity in the heart of this bustling village. Its also a HF centre, so the focus is on good walking along with great food, so you will have their excellent picnic lunches to keep you going. Of course, all the bedrooms are en-suite and there is a bar and a relaxing lounge. As we are only a 100m outside the village, we will probably explore the many village pubs and cafes, once the tourists have gone home.
